The Glasgow Boxer Until 31 ()ct. With one exception every Scottish world boxing champion has come from Glasgowor nearby — Johnny I III] was Glasgow's first world champion. then came Benny Lynch. Jackie Paterson. Wee Walter McGowan and Jim Watt. Photographs show boxing on the Glasgow scene. past and present. the doctors. the promoters. the referees and doormen. Sounds punchy.

A Place to Stay Until Nov as. ()ne ofthe largest exhibitions ever mounted on the subject of housing in Scotland. The exhibition traces the transformation in Springburn from a small village and industrial suburb where property was privately owned. to today's town dominated by council tower blocks. home for 50”! ofthe residents.

Camouflage 3 Sept—l Oct. The dictionary says ‘Disguise of guns. ships etc effected by obscuring outline with splashes of various colours; use ofsmoke-screens. boughs. for same purpose; means of throwing people off the scent; hide by .. This exhibition looks at the art of camouflage from the first principlesof war to its application by contemporary artists. This is the Scottish Arts (‘ouncil‘s last exhibition. Artists from around Europe include Tony (rag and Andy Goldsworthy (Britain). Bertrand Lavier (France) and Rosemary Trockel (West Germany).

Reality and Imagination in Neapolitan Painting in the 17th and 19th centunesThe theme of the Festival this year is Italy and the (‘ity Arts (‘entre is being used as diplomat. 40 paintings by a number of artists show life as it was in the 17th. 18th and 19th centuries in the city of Naples. It is an odd exhibition however. difficult to
penetrate unless you know Naples well. Its_
