Johnny and Phil Cunningham (see photo) are in concert in Edinburgh (18 June). This is the start of the Portobello brothers’ annual UK tour. Fiddle and accordion heroes to a generation both here and in the States, they have headed oft in different directions since the heyday of Silly Wizard and now work on a few separate projects. Relativity, their group together with
ex-Bothy bandpersons Triona and Michael O’Donnal, is due lora return visit in the Autumn and Johnny has been getting involved in some rock line-ups in Boston, but lorthe moment they are content to bring their gentle airs or stormy jigs and reels in company with a wry fraternal competitive humour.
