As part oi its annual UK tour, the London Symphony Orchestra visits Glasgow on Monday 17 Nov. As the London-based or major English symphony orchestras seldom venture north oi the border, this makes a welcome change. Linked to the Shell-LSD Music Scholarship, the tour, which also encompasses Aberdeen, Cardiil, London, Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool, gives the opportunity oi presenting the award’s young iinalists with their medals and certiiicates. Glasgow regional tinallst is nineteen year-old violinist Abigail Young irom Paisley, a student at London’s Guildhall School at Music and Drama. She, however, will not be playing on this occasion (only the Gold Medal winner, Stephanie Gonley, another nineteen year-old violinist, receives the additional honour oi periorming a concerto with the LSD). Cecile Ousset, the outstanding French pianist, is the
