The Scott Manuscripts go on public display for the first time since they were bought back from America for one million dollars and the Cambuskenneth Books have been deposited with the Library for three years by the Athenaeum Club. Liverpool. Following a chequered history. they return to Edinburgh after an absence ofover 400 years. Acquisition of the Murthly Hours With the aid ofthe National Heritage Memorial Fund (£395.000) and various other donations. the National Library has succeeded in purchasing this magnificent medieval manuscript of the early

City Dwellers — Catalyst Photographs by Jan Stankiewicz Until Sat 22 Nov. Jan. a self-taught photographer, has photographed Catalyst in Princes Street. on Granton Beach and in Edinburgh‘s dockland. It is appropriate that this multi-media group ofdancers, musicians and designers should be recorded by more than just publicity photography. If you’ve seen Catalyst — the performance, now visit Catalyst — the photographs. Some of the work has been previously shown at the Gateway Exchange Gallery. Janine Rolland - Paintings Until Sat 22 Nov. Rolland describes herself as an artist ‘furiously trying to catch up‘. after dedicating much of her life to rearing a family. Her earlier work was lost or destroyed during the Second World War as it was stored at the Royal Academy in Antwerp (her home at that time). It was not until her middle years that she began working again and now at seventy she desires to paint to the limit of her passion.
