As the sun shines through the windows at the Glasgow Print Studio, a salmon leaps. You have to squint to see it, partly because at real retlection, partly because Henry Kerr's photographs blurr with action and burst with light. This glimpse from his series ‘Diana and The Salmon of Knowledge’ has been included in a group show of seven young photographers, selected and joined by Thomas Joshua Cooper of Glasgow School ot Art and veteran Glasgow photographer and iilm-maker Oscar Marzaroli.
It's a cosy gathering, inlonnal and personal — like meeting people at a party. Two documentary photographers are introduced at the door. Alan Knight’s dark contrasts cast a rather traditional eye over Fez, Alexandria andthe Necropolis, while John Gilmour focuses on shape and ambiguity— houses as laces.
Skin, black and white, and tousled
the Scottish Labour History Society. charting the history of working people over the past 200 years. British Toymakers' Guild Until Sat 25 Oct. The largest exhibition by this group outside London. The work ranges from wax and porcelain dolls to trains. horses and fluffy foxes. Gael Until Sat 25 ()ct. A Scottish Museums Council exhibition arranged to coincide with the National Mod in Edinburgh. It traces the history of the Gael from their origins in the Iron Age to modern times.

hairlill Oladela Bamgboye's sensual portraits. His work is proof that in the right hands the camera can caress a body as well as copy it. Without trickery or artilice Bamgboye creates a classic, tactile beauty.
Psychology enters in Vaughan
Judge’s clean-cut portraits. In one,
three generations of women are physically separated — by a table, by dividing lines and by photography itself as the little girl hangs over mother and grandmother in a doting portrait. But though the pattern is broken visually, the bond between the women is indestructable.
Mary Cooper’s deserted rooms are
‘ interior landscapes with props, usually
tables and papers. Theatrical rather than social, they cry out to be larger. Apart from Jean Baird’s peaches and iron collage which seem out of place, this is a many-textured black and white exhibition. (Alice Bain)
Simultaneously. three Scottish artists. Stephen Lawson. John Kirkwood and Fred Stiven will be exhibiting at the Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg. The work in Edinburgl will transfer to Blackfriars Street after 22 Oct when Jeffrey Street officially closes and Blackfriars becomes headquarters for Richard Demarco.

Tony Gonnet— Recent Paintings 1976—1985 Until Fri 31 Oct. Settling in Paris in the Thirties. Gonnet became friendly with the surrealists Tanguy. the Prevert brothers and Andre Breton. He started designing engines for planes but shortly before the end of the war he abandoned everything else and took to painting full-time.
