Major plans to establish Glasgow as a European Jazz Centre were announced on Thursday by Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Robert Gray. He has accepted the Chairmanship ot the annual ‘Glasgow International Jazz Festival’ and preparations torthe first, in 1987 are well in hand. He commented that ‘. . . developments announcedtoday will place Glasgow in the lorelront or European Jazz providing an important extension to the already established cultural reputation ol the city.‘
