vocal of such depths of pain and
: emptiness that the listener is drawn
the most fully realised track: a fairly
further and further in, finally to be ensnared. Gripping, but too short. The three other tracks are something of a let-down, mainly feedback-laced workouts they could probably do in their sleep. Nevertheless, they show that the Uncles have a good grasp of the dynamics of their music. The second surprise is the (all too brief) intro to
: Mad As You, an eerie soundscape of % synth and guitar which could have
come from the final Gang of Four album it Foetus had been allowed to produce
: it. The Blood Uncles look like they
could rise head and shoulders above others of their ilk, it they can remember that roaring is just a hair’s-breadth from bluster. If they can cultivate their ability to stun, as they can do, then they’ve cracked it.
