Bert Boeren on ilute and Sytze Van Duin on trumpet, both also handling trombone and cornet, are the latest additions to the phenomenon of the Dutch Swing College Band, (Edinburgh, I8th).

The group had its origins in Nazi-occupied Holland in a soundprool basement operating as an underground school, since American music and listening to American broadcasts had been outlawed. At the Liberation the band emerged lully lledged, were an immediate success and are now a

National Institution, still ironted by their rounder and roving Dutch ambassador Peter Schilperoort. He has taken the band everywhere in the world except those parts inhabited by polar bears and penguins. Despite their name the repertoire is straight Dixieland and not 40’s swing. ‘Digital Anniversary’ commemorates not the celebrated linger in the dyke, but is the D.S.C.’s latest recording, atterlorty years ‘the world’s oldest Dixieland orchestra’.
