Ralph Towner has given new lite to the 12 string guitar using the instrument's unique qualities in conjunction with Garbarelt’s sax, Jarrett's piano, Gary Burton's vibes and even with Weather Report. A strong classical background and amazingly lluid imagination are also used to great etiect when he plays, as on Friday 12th in Edinburgh, in partnership with John Abercrombie. Abercrombie is another guitarist who has tound his way through 70s jazz rock and played with many oi the big names in the American lusion scene, notably Billy Cobham and Michael and Randy Brecker.
