With away wins recorded In recent years against both Holland and Belgium, there are excellent prospects at an overall Scottish victory in this triangular match (see listings, Sat 5, Meadowbank). There will be thirty litters, in eight ol the ten weight categories, competing during the altemoon. The absentees are in the biggest divisions, so the Scottish strength In the lighter ranks will be put to good use. Apart from the obvious demands oi the match ltseli, the added
pressure on the Scots Is the need to impress the selectors enough to secure a permanent place in the team. The Commonwealth Games lilting events will be in the same venue In 1986 and it is through their perlormances in team events like this that individuals can make sure of selection lor next July. With the retirement oi longstanding team members like Jack Hynd, a number oi younger men are lorclng their way into the squad, like 17 year-old Alan Ogilvie oi Meadowbank
and llorrie Cunningham (20), irom Kilmamock. They will be out to justlly selection while still Juniors, but the men Scotland will be looking to lor maximum points will be the experienced Charles Revoita (sliver medallist in the last Commonwealth Games) and John Mcliiven, now joined in the team by his son, John ir. Spectators are welcome. There may be a small entry lee, but only it the sponsors don't cough up enough.
