Sponsored by Lendal canoe equipment suppliers. this is one of a series of about 10 marathon events in which the competitors score points towards an overall total. Margaret Kinninmonth our country‘s fastest lady paddler who has recently returned from international competition in Spain. will be one of the 40 paddlers at the starting line and will probably be one of the lucky winners who receive a coveted Lendal paddle as prize. This year, the marathon competitors are grateful of police protection for the event after previous unpleasantries of shooting and stone-throwing at participants.

Over 300 anglers will be involved in these events, and hopefully the bad weather this summer will pay off by attracting more sizeable flounder and eels in the deeper waters.

All championships are Scottish Federation Trophy Events with considerable prizes amounting to £500 and pools for prize money for the heaviest catch.
