DAN AND PHIL Internet stars meet their public for an interactive tour
If you’ve never heard of Dan Howell and Phil Lester, chances are you were born in or before the mid-1990s and have no teenage people kicking about your house. And before you go thinking that Dan and Phil might be some sort of Everly Brothers tribute band, stop thinking that and instead imagine a world where skinny- jeaned, Lego-haired people run the planet. Dan and Phil would be their leaders with a pre-besuited Russell Kane acting as a veteran i gurehead.
These ‘YouTube sensations’ came to some of the public’s attention around 2013 with their Sunday evening Radio 1 request show which featured the actual playing of music alongside such streamed visual larks as the
boys wrapping each other up in clingi lm. Their comedic japes included Sorry I Don’t Know How To Internet, where senior adults’ inability to work modern technology was ruthlessly mocked, or #FoodFails, where anyone’s inability to prepare a square meal was viciously pilloried and which earned the pair a Sony Golden Headphones Award. But now, they’ve come out from behind their
mics to unleash the Interactive Introverts tour on us, which promises an epic hands-on experience of ‘rants, roasts, battles, stories and surprises that will make you laugh, cry, and cringe’. (Brian Donaldson) ■ Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow, Sun 6 May; Usher Hall, Edinburgh, Sat 12 May.
