PUDDLES PITY PARTY Perhaps The Boston Globe said it best: ‘it seems like a parody. But when Puddles opens his mouth to sing, it’s beautiful. Operatic.’ Behind the postmodern Pierrot get-up is 6ft 8” Mike Geier (not for nothing is he known as Big Mike Geier) whose modus operandi is baritone-tastic cover versions and ‘smoosh-ups’ such as ‘My Heart Will Go On’ / ‘Enter Sandman’ and ‘Under Pressure’ / ‘Let It Go’. Sounds crazy? Not in the velvety throat of Puddles. Though for some people’s money, Puddles’ finest three and a half minutes could be his acoustic emo version of ‘Dancing Queen’.
