This August, the Craft Scotland Summer Show arrives at Edinburgh’s White Stuff on George Street for an exhibition of contemporary design-led craft. Shop for stylish jewellery, graphic textiles and beautiful homeware and meet the makers behind the pieces. There’s also a series of workshops delivered by Emiliy Millichip, CARVE and Object Company, where visitors to the show can unleash their inner maker and learn how to craft their own ring, make earrings, carve a wooden spoon and create Carmen Miranda-themed keychains. CATHERINE AITKEN From her Leith-based studio, Catherine Aitken cre- ates contemporary accessories from heritage cloths, such as Harris tweed, Scottish linens and waxed cottons. Think bags, purses, clutches and scarves for the urban adventurer. @catherinaitken HAME HAME combines traditional hand skills and modern technologies to produce beautiful and useful home- ware that celebrates base materials. The account features the manufacturing process, i nished prod- ucts and Maisie the dog. @madebyhame
EMMA MCDOWALL Think concrete is grey and dull? Not the concrete of Emma McDowall, who produces gloriously colorful concrete vessels and objects, with plant holders and pen pots to brighten up your desk, as well as unique clocks. @_studioemma
LYNNE MCLACHLAN Glasgow-based Lynne uses digital technology and traditional techniques to create colourful 3D printed jewellery with optical effects. Check out her mesh collection for bold bright pieces that just shout sum- mer. @lynnemaclachlanstudio HELEN RUTH Helen Ruth specialises in digitally printed silk and wool scarves, printed in Glasgow and hand-i nished in Aberdeen. Her latest collection, Field Notes, is a series of scarves for explorers that mixes l ora and fauna motifs in a riot of colour. @helenruthscarf
JULIA SMITH Modern illustrated pottery handmade in Inverness. Julia’s delicately decorated bowls, plates and mugs are often inspired by nature and are ini nitely more beautiful than whatever is in your kitchen cupboard at moment. @julia.smith.ceramics CRISTINA ZANI Before setting up a studio in Edinburgh, Cristina Zani studied jewellery in Seoul. Her preset jewel- lery is inl uenced by the Korean urban landscape. Her account features lots of gorgeous textures and materials. @cristinazanijewellery
