BIG PICTURE
BILLY CONNOLLY The Big Yin may be reaching the latter stages of his performing life, but he’s determined never to be forgotten. Thankfully, most of the country is in agreement with helping him cultivate a lasting legacy, and three of the nation’s foremost artists are chipping in. Jack Vettriano, John Byrne and Rachel Maclean (whose work is pictured) have all created 50ft-high murals which will hang around Glasgow to mark the legend that is Billy Connolly. A BBC programme, Billy Connolly: Portrait of a Lifetime, will show clips from his career as well as following the process behind the murals, while the original artworks will be showcased at the People’s Palace. Billy Connolly: Portrait of a Lifetime, BBC One, early June, and People’s Palace, Glasgow, later in June. 1 Jun–31 Aug 2017 THE LIST 15
