ESAF
BRIGHT YOUNG
T he Edinburgh Student Arts Festival exists to foster young creative talent, while making art accessible in the process. Now in its third iteration, ESAF returns this year with a packed schedule of events, ranging from live music to i lm, with the upcoming festival focusing on celebrating the spirit of collaboration.
‘ESAF is a social enterprise that initially provided emerging creatives with a platform to showcase their work to the public,’ says founder and director Briana Pegado. ‘We have since evolved into an organisation that provides a space for anyone to give creativity a go.’ Briana is hopeful that this year’s programme will give audiences the chance to explore some of the up-and-coming creative voices of the future through the diverse events on offer. ‘Our artists have been invited in to react to the spaces they will be shown in and many have chosen to explore similar themes including stigmas over sexuality, mental ill-heath, and challenging our post- truth society whilst questioning the concept of truth,’ Briana explains. ‘Our creatives are bold, insightful, reactive, and some of the brightest young things coming out of Edinburgh.’
