RIVERSIDE FESTIVAL Electric Frog and Pressure pray for good weather on the west coast
It wouldn’t be a May bank holiday in Glasgow without Electric Frog putting on yet another talent-packed alfresco clubbing event, and this year’s honours the mini-festival’s general development of getting, well, bigger and better. Hosted in association with Pressure once again, not only does the event expand into a three-stager for the first time, but two of the stages on this year’s bill will be presented by Sven Väth’s Cocoon, an Ibiza-friendly seal of approval which could well take the weekender to the next level. Making the welcome decision to hold the event on the Friday and Saturday – leaving Sunday for sleeping it off – the main draw is
seeing this international display of credible talent on the banks of the Clyde. As well as Väth (pictured), it’s a Pressure-led techno contingent which holds sway, with other big names including Ricardo Villalobos, techno supergroup Siriusmodeselektor, Berlin’s Len Faki, Detroit techno old-stagers Carl Craig and Robert Hood and Dirtybird’s Julio Bashmore. Also look out for long-time friends of Glasgow Joy Orbison and Prosumer, Russian star Nina Kraviz, Hessle Audio founder Ben UFO and Blawan and Pariah’s Karenn project.
