21st Edition 2014/15 Each year we make special awards to our pick of the best newcomers in the previous 12 months. This year, The List’s Eating & Drinking Guide Awards for 2014 picked out Edinburgh arrivals Ting Thai Caravan and The Atelier, while through in Glasgow The Gannet and Meat Bar won our approval. Previous winners have included places such as The Dhabba, The Left Bank, Nanakusa, Crabshakk, Banana Leaf, Hanoi Bike Shop and Martha’s in Glasgow, and The Dogs, Wedgwood the Restaurant, L’escargot Bleu, Ondine, Castle Terrace, Mithas, Gardener’s Cottage and The Vintage in Edinburgh.

Our judges’ Special Award recognises the outstanding contribution of an establishment or individual to the food and drink world in Scotland. This year, it was presented this year to Frederick Berkmiller, the chef and restaurateur behind L’escargot Bleu and L’escargot Blanc, and also the driving force behind the Budding Chefs exchange of young talent between Scotland and Brittany. Previous recipients of the award include Ronnie Clydesdale, Eddie and Shirley Spear, the Contini Family, Hendersons and Iain Mellis.
