WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE DAY OF THE CHRISTMAS SEASON? AND WHAT ARE YOU LIKELY TO BE
EATING? NEIL FORBES
I get a tad emotional on Christmas Eve thinking of loved ones and family that you can’t be near at this special time. I also think of families who are struggling or children with no presents to open, it makes us appreciate how lucky we are. Mrs Chef and I are woken early on Christmas Day by our
boys, so it’s lots of strong coffee all morning. We have our big meal around 3pm: always a Grierson’s Organic chicken with stufi ng, chipolatas and sprouts. The sprouts are just for me sadly, as no one else in our house eats them. And to i nish, a
Cafe St Christmas Honoré Christmas pud of course! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
BETH MCDONALD My favourite day would be Boxing Day, turning mum’s leftover
turkey into a wonderful Ca Ri Ga, spiced coconut and coriander turkey curry!

My favourite day is Christmas Day as we close the restaurant so all the team can spend time with their family: this year we
will be having goose! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Christmas Day, of course. I’ve got two kids, so for me it’s great
to see how excited they are on Christmas morning. The stress of the build-up is all worth it when you see their faces and realise that for
them Christmas is a magical time. As a chef I’m always the designated cook, but I do like to get the whole family involved
in the prep.

Oh, it has to be Christmas Day. It’s a rare day all our staff have the same day off, so it’s nice to see them go off and enjoy time with their families, after what is always a hectic run-up to
Christmas. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
KEN CHIN Haha, I’m usually working over the Christmas season. For me, Christmas is all about cooking for others. I get great pleasure in others enjoying my food but when it comes to cooking for myself, I’d go for Shabu Shabu again: simple and delicious!
