The Queen’s Baton Relay will arrive in Scotland on 14 June. EventScotland is supporting a programme of events

that will give people up and down the country the chance to try their hand at the 17 Commonwealth Games sports from Lawn Bowls to Gymnastics alongside fantastic evening nales in celebration of the Relay

E vents are taking place in towns, cities and along the Queen’s Baton Relay route in all 32 areas of Scotland this summer as part of Games for Scotland. The programme is a key part of Legacy 2014 the Scottish Government’s commitment to delivering a lasting legacy as a result of the Commonwealth Games coming to Scotland and will give communities from Hawick to Lerwick the opportunity to celebrate the Relay’s journey across the country.

From 14 June, when the Relay reaches Edinburgh, the Baton will spend 40 days visiting towns and cities and stopping at locations ranging from sports centres to shopping malls and beaches in all 32 local authority areas. Each event will feature sessions for young and old to try the 17 Commonwealth Games sports from gymnastics to swimming, athletics, lawn bowls, track cycling and more, as well as Games-themed cultural and creative activities and dance.

HAKA HAWICK HAWICK | 18 JUN scotborders.gov.uk The Big Parade will be followed by a free but ticketed evening

entertainment programme with traditional African music, Clanadonia and Scocha at Hawick Town Hall. Tickets should be reserved by phoning or emailing.

LET’S CELEBRATE GLASGOW 2014 FALKIRK | 24 JUN falkirkcommunitytrust.org Enjoy a range of exciting taster sessions along the Relay route from the Falkirk Wheel to Grangemouth Stadium. The Sing Forth community choir will take part in a spectacular evening celebration at Helix Park.

CLACKMANNANSHIRE | 25 JUN clacksweb.org.uk Events along the route include Picnic in the Park at Greeni eld Park, a street party outside Sauchie Hall, an event at Dollar Academy and a Commonwealth Village in Alva’s Cochrane Park. A free but ticketed evening event will take place at Lornshill Academy.

ST ANDREWS | 26 JUN i fe.gov.uk Fife Council’s Active Team will be delivering a range of active celebrations including an attempt at the world’s biggest ceilidh! The Relay will stop at locations around Fife before being welcomed to St Andrews.
