THE GLORIOUS RETURN OF EMPEROR ANDREW Edinburgh-born, Berlin-based artist Andrew Gilbert has created a mock ‘colonial exhibition’ for his first solo show in Scotland. Inspired by the displays which toured Europe in the 19th century, depicting locals and objects from overseas, he has filled Summerhall’s Library Gallery with a nightmarish mix of graphic paintings of bloody battles and surreal vegetable sculptures. The effect is a forceful reminder of the horrors of the colonial era. ■ Summerhall, Edinburgh, until Fri 11 Jul.
