JAMES YORKSTON, THE PICTISH TRAIL AND SEAMUS FOGARTY With the recent closure of the Picture House, there have been worried murmurs of Edinburgh’s lack of music venues. Enter the 300-seater Pleasance theatre, long used by the Fringe for comedy shows in the summer, and increasingly by Edinburgh Uni as a place to see gigs – in the comfort of an actual chair. This month Pleasance Sessions puts on a midweek gig, featuring spectral sounds from the East Neuk of Fife’s alternative folk troubadour, James Yorkston, with support from the Lost Map’s folky, beardy roster including the Pictish Trail (pictured, above) and Seamus Fogarty. ■ The Pleasance, Edinburgh, Wed 12 Mar, part of Pleasance Sessions; Seamus Fogarty also plays the Glad Café, Glasgow (with Randolph’s Leap, Adam solo), Fri 14 Mar.
