THE ART SCHOOL REOPENS The doors of the Art School union were shut for months, the doors were due to reopen – but then didn’t – now they will, finally. The opening night party (Thu 23 Jan) is a Croc V Croc special, loaded with local DJ talent, including Jackie Your Body, David Barbarossa and Fielding Hope, followed by Jonnie Wilkes from Optimo playing Bondage / Education in the Vic Bar the night after, and visits from Shackleton (Fri 7 Feb, see preview, page 46) and Zoviet France (Sat 15 Feb, see preview, page 48), soon after. ■ The Art School, Glasgow. Night of 80s classics and 90s pop hits from the Beep Beep, Yeah! DJs. ■ Soulsville at the Bongo Club. 15 Feb, 11pm–3am. £5. Tsatsu and Fryer spin the best in soul, doo-wop, rhythm & blues and rock’n’roll now with an added kick of live dancers on stage and down home blues in the loft. ■ Speaker Bite Me at Electric Circus. 1 Feb, 10.30pm–3am. £5 before midnight; £6 after. The Evol DJs take charge at this alternative disco night of indie, hip hop and a dash of electro, which features everything from Dizzee Rascal to The Cribs. ■ Tease Age at Citrus Club. This indie stalwart dishes up everything from swinging 60s hits to baggy Manchester faves as well as a host of current NME chart botherers with DJ Monkee Mickee. ■ We Own at Sneaky Pete’s. 1 Feb, 11pm–3am. £5.
