EPIC OF EVEREST This recently restored silent film from 1924 documents the breathtaking true account of the third attempt to conquer the world’s highest mountain. The success of the expedition, which claimed the lives of both George Mallory and Andrew Irvine, is still debated to this day, as no one really knows if they reached the summit. Released in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the first successful British expedition, and featuring a newly commissioned live score from Simon Fisher Turner, Epic of Everest is a startling testament to the limits of human bravery and skill, and a priceless piece of cinema to match. ■ GF T, Glasgow, Sat 19 & Sun 20 Oct.
