BIG PICTURE COMPOSITIONS FOR INVOLUNTARY STRINGS The programme for this year’s Sonica festival is filled with intriguing propositions (music by mosquitoes, anyone?), but this project by artist Michaela Davies stood out for us. A string quartet will perform ‘involuntary’ pieces (including one composition by regular Nick Cave collaborator Jim Sclavunos), with electronic pads on their skin stimulating their muscles into action.
