WEB-O-SPHERE DIGITAL DESPATCHES FOR THE TECHNOPHOBIC
We’ve been turning to crowd-sourced info quite a bit this issue: see The Question below, and our camping feature on page 24, for some much- appreciated examples of reader- generated input. As nicely as we ask though, there are still some gripers among you who refuse to get into the spirit of things. ‘In my experience wild camping spots don’t remain wild camping spots for long once they end up being published in a list,’ groused @DavidatCity. Meanwhile, in response to our favourite beaches query, @7aheadmusic simply tweeted: ‘Not telling you.’ Now we get that you want to keep your special places special, guys, but come on, share the wealth of your knowledge. Much more open was the attitude of list.co.uk user maggiel59, who declared on Tread the Board’s Bonaventure listing: ‘Dylan Geoghegan is the star of Bonaventure and he is my son.’ Which reads as a proud declaration of maternal affection the first time through, but sounds more and more defiant and argumentative on
subsequent reads. Our highlights from the wider web this month included dogs who have become the victims of overzealous stylists (bit.ly/styledogs) and the Vine output of our favourite weirdo comedian Limmy (pictured) His selection of streaming, six-second videos are, well, they’re certainly something. See them at bit.ly/limmyvine (Niki Boyle)
THE QUESTION WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SCOTTISH BEACH? We ask the question, you give the answer. Join in on Twitter @thelistmagazine and Facebook
Lorna McPartlan I need to say Nairn beach as I live here! But for the secret gem of a beach, Cummingston on the Moray coast.
@LornaMCampbell Traigh ne Berie / Reef beach, Uig, Isle of Lewis.
@fjferrygirl Camusdarrach beach near Arisaig, Lunan Bay beach near Montrose and Broughty Ferry beach.
@charlotteruncie Torrin beach on Skye. Sandy, always deserted, only sometimes tooth-numbingly cold.
@BeckyHendry Tentsmuir in Fife – lovely beach but also beautiful
forest, WWII defences and an ice house!
@EdinSpotlight Luskentyre on Harris.
@GlasSydney Calgary beach, Isle of #Mull. All [of Mull’s beaches] actually, and #Portobello of course!
@barrychurchwood For bathing: Silversands in Aberdour. For dogging: Ravenscraig in Kirkcaldy WITHOUT A DOUBT!!!
@phil_elba Carradale Bay in Kintyre.
Laura Ennor Luskentyre on Harris has an amazing otherworldly quality, and the beach on Iona feels like it’s on a tropical island.
Gullane is also nice and has the advantage of a great ice cream shop and branch of Falko Konditorei nearby!
@MichaelSince83 The singing sands of Morar are nice.
@ribs909 Kildonan beach on the Isle of Arran.
@speelingmstake Luskentyre on Harris.
@lauraemilyanna Camusdarach beach, Arisaig . . . But Cove is gorgeous too (and who doesn’t love a tunnel?!).
