operas, Massenet’s Werther hasn’t been staged in Scotland for almost 20 years. It’s the age- old story of obsessive love – and the heartbreak that comes along with it, in a new production by Pia Furtado, set in the early part of the 20th century. Pairing the fifth symphonies of Schubert and Mahler is yet another über-smart programming move from Principal Conductor, Robin Ticciati.
