Like the city itself, the driving force of Glasgay! y! is its commitment to celebrating individuality y and including everyone. . This year’s festival focuses on acts of union n and questions, ‘Are we wedded wedded to old ways, tired identity stereotypes, ty stereotypes, unrelenting partners or forging new paths and seizing forging new paths and new opportunities?’ At the centrepiece is the stage play of cult 70’s movie, Harold and Maude - combine a death-obsessed teenager with a 79-year old free-thinking liberal and you have a union of hilarity and thought-provoking ideas. includes a 70+ ladies rock band from Finland all of whom learned to play their r tired; a instruments after they retired; a reading of a play by 73 year old Sylvia ar old Sylvia Dow who three years ago graduated with distinction in a Playwriting Masters degree from Glasgow University; and dance performances choreographed and performed by older people’s dance groups in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Luminate includes new work, collaborations, international projects specially planned and programmed for this launch year and many independently-run and community projects.

Relive your childhood memories in Angus through games and activities at Mud Pies, I Spy and Catch Me If You Can...; listen in and empathise with the women of The Guid Sisters, a co-production between the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh and the National Theatre of Scotland; and be inspired by artistic maverick jazz legend Annie Ross beautifully portrayed in the feature documentary, No One But Me.
