Bob Servant, window cleaning kingpin and beneficiary of Dundee’s Cheeseburger Wars, turns Agony Uncle for The List

HAVE YOUR SAY

Dear Bob, Did I see you in Magaluf last week wearing a ‘Dundee Utility Hooligan Division’ T-shirt? I could have sworn I saw you and Frank coming out of the kebab shop looking very pleased with yourself? Hamish Milne, Dundee Hamish, The idea that I would wear a T-shirt encouraging violence is out of order; the suggestion I would eat a kebab is the stuff of nightmares. I’m a cheeseburger man and I always have been. They’re tasty, they’re healthy and they’re just good, traditional Scottish snacks. And, no, I’m not one of these guys who go to Magaluf and come back to Dundee drinking Lilt and talking like Christopher Columbus. I take my holidays in a static caravan in Pitlochry and it’s a week of absolute bliss. Nothing says ‘freedom’ like a static caravan. Yours, Bob

Bobbers, I see One Direction continue to smash records Stateside. Ever through of ‘breaking America’ yourself? Dave Glass Dave, My first book, the much-admired Delete This At Your Peril, was released in the USA. The Americans tried to play a wee joke on me by not buying it for a while and then suddenly all buying it once and saying ‘Ach we were only mucking about’. Unfortunately the book went out of print before they were able to play the second part of the joke. Bob

GRIN AND BEAR IT We said Grizzly Bear’s latest album, Shields, has ‘less oomph, more fuzz and fewer tunes’ than the band’s earlier efforts. Here are some of the responses we received add your view at list.co.uk This is a dumb ass review. Judging from the first two songs alone, this person must have cloth in their ears if they think this lacks ‘oomph’ . . . Comment posted by Ben Wright on list.co.uk

It’s not really a ‘review’ at two paragraphs in length the author resting on their tappy-tappy laurels? Whatever your feelings on Shields (I happen to think it’s a slow-burn work of pure class), to say it doesn’t grab the attention is to have not listened to it properly.
