Real name Merja Kokkonen, Islaja is a visual artist and musician living and working in Berlin. Her 2004 debut album Meritie was fawned over by The Wire and she was asked to tour with Animal Collective, and play All Tomorrow’s Parties, curated by Thurston Moore.
