EAT, SLEEPand BREATH

ALI MCGREGOR The opera singer turned cabaret diva looks like a 1940s forces sweetheart, but will be singing Salt- N-Pepa, Madonna and Kiss hits in this year’s show. Fuelled by chai and an occasional tequila, apparently . . .

What time is breakfast? 6am with my two-year-old or 8.30 if my wonderful husband is on duty!

Tea or coffee? Neither. Unless you have chai, which cafés rarely do here.

Smoking or non-smoking? Non smoking. Unless it’s 3am and I should know better.

Sweet or savoury snacks? Savoury, unless . . . (see above)

What food do you miss when you tour? Home-cooked food.

Who’s the best cook you know? I fancy myself as a bit of a cook actually. #humble

What’s on your rider? Water. And tequila but I usually have to supply that myself.

Which country / city has the best food? Melbourne, without a doubt.

Do you eat out a lot? When we are touring then yes. Sometimes that’s awesome but these days it means entertaining a two-year-old with crayons and breadsticks until the food arrives.

Do you drink onstage? Um. Usually I like a glass of white but during a festival it’s water all the way (until the last week maybe).
