Comedy Pick of the Fringe
While it’s easy to imagine you can escape from the jamboree that is the Edinburgh Festival by bunkering down in the west, don’t forget that many of the acts heading for the capital will be setting out their stall at the Stand in early August. Multi-media film, theatre and music installation from Ankur, performed by thirty people from refugee and asylum seeker groups and culturally diverse areas of Glasgow. Featuring beatboxer Bigg Taj, musician Daniel Padden and choreographer Ruth Mills, Jodie Marshall’s script tells stories of ‘mundane’ life events seen through an Olympic framework of staged sporting events with medals.

Daddy Long Legs Thu 2 Aug, 7.30– 8.30pm. £6 (£4). A thought-provoking look at violence and cruelty among teens. Presented by Kinetic Theatre.
As part of its summer series of Twisted Shakespeare productions, Scottish Youth Theatre returns to the Tron with a bold staging of the Bard’s great comedy of mistaken identity, in which Viola, separated from her twin brother following a shipwreck, assumes his identity and stumbles into the company of some of Shakespeare’s most memorable characters, including Malvolio, Feste and Sir Toby Belch. ■ Tron Theatre, Glasgow, until Sat 4 Aug.
