Catherine the Great: An Enlightened Empress

History lesson: Catherine the Great was Empress of Russia for more than 30 years and one of its most influential rulers. She expanded the country’s empire, sought political and social reform and amassed a staggering collection of art. The National Museum will be displaying more than 300 works, from costumes and uniforms to carvings, statues and canvasses, collected and commissioned by the lady herself from some of the most renowned artists in Europe and Russia in the 18th century.
