THE SNOWMAN

When a young boy’s snowman comes to life on Christmas Eve, the two set off on a night-time quest for adventure. On their travels they meet dancing penguins, reindeer and naturally, Father Christmas. Watch spellbound as the Snowman flies through the night sky above you, before escaping the clutches of the evil Jack Frost to return home for Christmas morning. The stage show based on Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman and the subsequent film has become a modern classic. With its wonderful mix of storytelling, spectacle and magic, The Snowman makes a triumphant return to the Festival Theatre to enchant the young and the young at heart this festive season. Featuring Howard Blake’s beautiful Walking In the Air, performed by a live orchestra, this is the perfect Christmas treat for all the family.

When you’ve spent years honing your craft, it must be slightly galling to be paid less and enjoy less of the limelight than the ‘celebrities’ on Strictly Come Dancing. So it’s good to see the hugely talented Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace having such enormous success with Midnight Tango. Back in Edinburgh for a second time, this dynamic, dramatic and surprisingly witty show features a fantastic live tango band, as well as the sharp moves of Vincent, Flavia and some of the finest tango dancers in the world. Edinburgh Playhouse, Wed 27–Sat 30 Jun.
