24 MAY–21 JUN YOU’VE GOT 29 DAYS TO LIVE!
I'm writing this editorial at the 11th hour, just as the magazine goes to press. That's not unusual. What is special is that this editorial is my last. I'm stepping down as editor of The Listafter almost three years, moving on to pastures new, and handing over to someone with the energy to keep filling these pages with Hot New Stuff.
A bit of history: The Liststarted life 27 years ago, when printing ink on dead trees was all the rage, and when the only tweets were those of the birds consequently dislodged from their natural habitats. Where other similar magazines have fallen by the wayside, The Listkeeps soldiering on, buoyed by the enthusiasm Scots have for their grassroots arts scenes, and still touting the same brand of outspoken opinion mixed with tongue-in-cheek critique. It’s been a rare pleasure to work on a magazine that has remained truly independent. I'd like to say thanks to every member of the fantastic List staff for supporting my dodgier ideas ('let's do a sex issue!'), keeping me on my toes and being open to cake
bribes. I've had a spectacular time. Here's to another 27 years of a unique and wonderful magazine.
