BigPicture JILL TODD PHOTOGRAPHIC AWARD Jill Todd was a photographer and first-class graduate of Edinburgh Napier University. Her work, including this self-portrait, was slick, professional, beautiful and also strongly feminist. Her death due to cancer in 2010 was tragic, but her talent and attitude to work is being celebrated through a new award designed to help showcase the best student and graduate photography in Scotland. Applicants should submit a body of new work on the theme of ‘kin’ before Wed 1 Aug. The award is open to final year undergraduate students, post graduate students and photographers within two years of graduation who have studied in Scotland. The best work will be exhibited at Edinburgh’s Whitespace gallery in autumn and there’s £1000 worth of cash prizes to be given away. ■ jilltoddphotoaward.com
