The Edinburgh Mela is a vibrant, joyous riot of sounds, sights, colours and tastes and is returning to Leith Links from 31 August - 2 Sep this year. Challenge your senses with delicious food, family fun and some utterly amazing music, dance and theatre, all on one site. This year there are four vibrant zones packed with new music: urban, bhangra, classical, world, funk, sarod and more. Dance fans can enjoy everything from contemporary dance through desi to pop-locking b-boys at the brand new Mela World Dance Feste, and there’s a whole programme of family fun at the Mela Kidzone. Don’t forget to sample the tastes of the world at the Global Food Village. It all kicks off with a free spectacular performance with fireworks on Friday 31 August. Known for its unforgettable atmosphere, diverse music line up and picturesque Dumfries & Galloway setting, The Wickerman Festival takes place 20 & 21 July and is set to be one of the summer’s biggest parties. Organisers of the Big Tent Festival, Scotland’s award winning environmental and music festival, have been busy bringing together a stellar line-up of music, kids programmes, author and songwriter sessions and workshops all taking place over the weekend of 21 & 22 July this summer and we have four pairs of weekend camping tickets to give away. It’s all happening within the grounds of the outstanding natural landscape of Falkland Estate in Fife, with top acts such as The Proclaimers, Salsa Celtica, Karine Polwart, Treacherous Orchestra and Breabach all scheduled to appear.
Big Tent isn’t just about the music though, it’s about families, great locally sourced food, stimulating environmental talks and debates, workshops, poetry, authors, songwriters and storytellers. For the first time organisers have raised the age of free entry for young people up to 16, one of only a handful of UK festivals to set this limit.
