Pass the Spoon
So a cartoonist, a composer and a director walk into a bar. . . A ‘sort-of-opera’, Pass the Spoon is a hilarious collaboration between cartoonist David Shrigley, award-winning composer David Fennessy and director Nicholas Bone. The story centres on a TV cookery show and includes giant
puppets, a suave Latino banana, a manic-depressive egg, a dung beetle and cannibalism. Despite the very positive critique given to the show so far, Shrigley has said of the show, ‘I don’t think it will be on Broadway this time next year, but I think it’s pretty entertaining.’ ■ Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, Thu 26–Sat 28 Apr.
