Following the London launch party of debut LP Future Rhythm Machine earlier this year, Auntie Flo (a.k.a Brian d’Souza) will launch it again at his Highlife night in Glasgow.

The Glasgow afro-house DJ will then play in Edinburgh two weeks later, after the album has been released on May 14 by Highlife label Huntley’s and Palmers. The tracklist includes international collaborations with the Chilean

Mamacita (‘La Samaria’) and South-African/Glaswegian Esa (‘I Want to Blow Your Mind’), making it clear that an international approach is what he strives for: ‘I have always been drawn to the rhythm or groove of any piece of music, much more so than lyrical content for example. When I listen to African music I hear new rhythms, new possibilities and a glimpse into another world.’ See album review , page 82 and see Clubs, page 50 for a preview. Highlife at La Cheetah, Glasgow, Sat 5 May; Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh, Sun 13 May.
