Your style in three words Chip-toothed smile. Where do you fi nd inspiration? Secretforts.com and goodshop.pe. I get magazines from Analogue in Edinburgh, too. My wife is the most stylish person I know. Where do you fi nd your clothes? I’m lucky – my mum-in-law owns the vintage shop, Herman Brown, and my wife and I have our own collection, HB Electronics. I spend time tracking down desirable vintage pieces. Best-kept secret? The M&S discount shop at Meadowbank for plain white tees, packs of three. Scottish designers/stores you are a fan of? Goodhood in London, co-owned by Kyle Stewart, who grew up round these parts. Most cherished item? My wedding ring. Best city for shopping? Does North Berwick count?
Your style in three words High-waisted, Americana, pattern. Where do you fi nd inspiration? Frankie and N.E.E.T. magazines, bleubirdvintage.typepad.com. Where do you fi nd your clothes? Watermelon, Circa, Mr Ben, eBay and etsy. I also like to buy new, mostly from American Apparel and Topshop. Favourite local shop? My local East End charity shops are great for fi nding coats and accessories. Best-kept secret? Retro. They have an amazing collection of 60s and 70s dresses in the basement. Scottish designers/stores you are a fan of? In Edinburgh I love Hannah Zakari and Armstrong’s. An item you’ve currently got your eye on/are searching for? Vintage clogs for this summer. Your style in three words Tee. Shirt. Guy. Where do you fi nd inspiration? My friends. The Travel Almanac. [the sculptor] Isamu Noguchi. [jazz record label founder] Manfred Eicher. Creative Review. Favourite local shop? My favourites are long closed – Doctor Jives, Odd One Out, Pageant – so for now I make do with Herman Brown, Edinburgh. Best-kept secret? The HB Electronics rail within Herman Brown. An item you’ve currently got your eye on/are searching for? These perforated leather Maserati drivers gloves just like my late Italian grandfather had, in soft tan leather. Best city for shopping? New York, Paris and Berlin. Flea markets in the Mission, San Francisco.
