BigPicture HARRY PAPADOPOULOS: WHAT PRESENCE! The career of Harry Papadopoulos began inauspiciously enough with the Glasgow-born photographer standing outside the city’s Apollo handing out shots he’d taken at bands’ Edinburgh gigs the week before. His tenacity led him onto the staff of Sounds from 1979-1984, during which time he photographed the key movers and shakers of the post-punk era, from Siouxsie and the Banshees to The Clash and Spandau Ballet. These portraits and front- row shots are collected in this retrospective, alongside candid images of the exiled Scots who crashed on Harry’s floor in London, including Edwyn Collins and Aztec Camera, as well as startling images of a young Peter Capaldi in his guise as frontman of the Dreamboys and musicians Jimmy Somerville, Tom Robinson and Andy Bell marching for gay equality. ■ Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow, Sat 17 Dec–Sat 25 Feb.
