Laurie Hastings VisualArt

Laurie Hastings is an illustrator and printmaker, striving to produce images that capture and communicate the imagery and narrative of a text. People are often central to the images Laurie creates: she enjoys conveying an emotion or a certain tension between characters and the situations they find themselves in. Laurie was born in Hong Kong in 1981. After gaining her art foundation diploma at Chelsea College of Art, London, she went on to study at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a BA Honours degree in Illustration in 2004. During this time she spent three months on

exchange at Rhode Island School of Design, Providence.

Laurie recently left Edinburgh, her home of nine years, to spend three months exploring India. Now based in London, she is working on illustration commissions for various editorial and publishing clients, as well as creating new screen prints for an exhibition at the Off the Shelf Festival in Sheffield in October.
