EAT, SLEEP and BREATHE
Singer-songwriter and one- time member of Antony and the Johnsons, JOAN AS POLICEWOMAN, divulges some of her eating habits
What time is breakfast? Depending on the night before, 9 or 11.30. Tea or coffee? Rooibos tea. The doctor swore me off coffee even though I die inside every time I smell it . . .
Smoking or non-smoking? One after the show. Thankfully I don’t long for more than that. Sweet or savoury snacks? Both at the same time, please.
What food do you miss when you tour? Fresh-pressed green juice. I know, I’m a hippie, but I just love drinking grass. Who’s the best cook you know? My friend Thatcher Keats, who also does all my photos.
What’s on your rider? Again, a lot of hippie food. Fruit, vegetables, salads, nuts, dark chocolate, dried figs and dates, smoked salmon, vine leaves . . . Which country/city has the best food? Italy in general.
Do you eat out a lot? Have to, I’ve got no choice!
Do you eat or drink onstage? Singing and eating do not go together for me. I drink hot Throat Coat tea with honey and water. ■ Joan as Police Woman plays the Liquid Rooms, 225 2564, Wed 31 Aug, 7pm, £15. joanaspolicewoman.com
