Scotland is one of hardcore’s most fervent enclaves. For some reason the pounding beats connect with a certain Scottish mentality, events like Rez used to scratch that itch and now Colours deviate from their usual house/trance format to present an unrelenting Masters of Hardcore special. Headlining is the viscously intense bpms of Dutch DJ Angerfist (pictured) who produced his first tunes at the age of just 16 and decked out in his horror mask he’s been causing dancefloor destruction ever since. Other names include Outblast, Accelarator, Day-Marr, T-Junction and the ‘nu generation’ in the second arch headed by Chimera. ■ The Arches, Glasgow, Sat 6 Aug.
