Electric Frog CLUBS Unfortunately knocked down from a weekender to a one- dayer, the Electric Frog line-up still has the look of a stonking good party, with Dubfire (pictured), Marc Houle, Karotte, Nick Curly and Nitzer Ebb dropping in from afar while some chaps from Optimo and Slam represent the home team. Arrietty FILM The Borrowers, Mary Norton’s tale of thimble-sized people that scavenge from human ‘beans’ by night, is given the Studio Ghibli animated treatment, and very charming it is too. To comedians, July marks a time of hyper-alertness of the type a green beret must feel as he anticipates a parachute jump behind enemy lines. July is the month before battle. To continue the metaphor, Edinburgh is a war zone we return to once a year, as our annual tour of duty. And Fringe previews are like the initial storming of the trenches: a mixture of fear, exhilaration, and permanent psychological trauma. Who wouldn't want to witness that?
