Scottish Opera: Rigoletto Completing the 2010/11 season, Scottish Opera’s new Rigoletto (above) is directed by Matthew Richardson, who brought two of the company’s Five:15 short operas to the stage last year. With its larger-than-life characters and Verdi’s fabulous music, it is little wonder Rigoletto is one of the most performed operas in the world. Wed 27 Apr, Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh.

Plug No less than 11 concerts of new music presented by the composition department of the RSAMD. Everything performed is being heard for the very first time, culminating in the BBC SSO and leading German composer Helmut Oerhing’s POEndulum, based on the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe. BBC SSO: Flights of Inspiration Young Glasgow- born composer, Martin Suckling is in increasing demand, with a piece commissioned by the SCO for next season and the world premiere of his Candlebird by the London Sinfonietta at the end of May.
