90 THE LIST 17 Feb–3 Mar 2011
Laura Duncan is currently working towards her BA in Photographic and Electronic Media at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen. At the moment she is exploring themes in sexuality and how to show sex in a more positive manner. She is also interested in exploring control, limitation and the intricate nature of human interaction. Her most recent series, Standing Woman in Red, is a self-
exploration into these themes through performance and honesty. The collection, which includes a multi-laser video installation, was recently exhibited in Aberdeen’s city centre. Through her work, Laura aims to take down the wall between artist and audience and confront themes that are uncomfortable – that could even be considered grotesquely beautiful. She wishes to create art that means something real and wants to use this hyper-realistic art to change herself and to change other people. ■ www.alaurazane.com
