They’re spoiling us once more with the music strand of the GFF. Besides the live music events (see previews, page 62) there are screenings of some gems for instance Blank City, a documentary on the underground film scene in 70s and 80s New York, featuring Steve Buscemi, Debbie Harry and Jim Jarmusch; Ivory Tower (pictured) Chilly Gonzales’ tale of brotherly rivalry and chess, with appearances from his pals Peaches and Feist; and Nyman with a Movie Camera, where the composer of scores for The Piano and Wonderland does a shot-by-shot remake of a 1929 Soviet film.
