Emeli Sandé The Aberdeen soul-popper was studying medicine at Glasgow Uni whilst also penning hits for Cheryl Cole, Chipmunk and Tinie Tempah. Her recent solo tour proved she’s no slouch when it comes to performing either and her gutsy bluesy-goes-urban vocals have her widely tipped for stardom. www.myspace.com/ emelisande 12 THE LIST 6–20 Jan 2011

The Son(s) Describing themselves as ‘a three person solo project’, the actively mysterious Son(s) was three guys, now whittled down to the Aberdeen and Edinburgh-dwelling ‘Karl’.
