The xx have had a fantastic year, picking up the Mercury Music Prize in September, for the self-titled album they produced themselves, Jamie xx (aka Jamie Smith) going on to remix Jack Penate and Glasser. He will release a collaboration with jazz poet Gil Scott-Heron early in 2011, a full remix of his album I’m New Here (which will be retitled We’re New Here). In the meantime, he is dropping in at Numbers for a DJ set to mark the release of ‘Far Nearer’, his first solo material which will be released on the esteemed Glasgow label. ■ Numbers at the Sub Club, Glasgow, Fri 17 Dec.
